1. Mukteshwar Temple
Mukteshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located on a hilltop in Mukteshwar. It is situated only 1 km away from Nainital district market. It is one of the sacred places for Hindus and is dedicated to lord Shiva, It is situated at the top of a hill and can be reached by climbing a series of steep stone stairs. For those who are deeply religious, trekking to the temple can be a heavenly experience. The temple is built with a marble Shivling and idols of some other Hindu immortals.
2. Chauthi Jali
It is also called as Chauli Ki Jali and is situated adjacent to the Mukteshwar temple. According to mythologies demons and a goddess had fought a battle in this place and this place resemble a shield and the trunk of an elephant as a testimonials of the battle.
3. Indian Veterinary Research Institute
It is one of the leading advanced research institute engaged in live stock research and is dedicated to the development of the region. It was established at the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory in 1889 at Pune on the recommendation of the Cattle Plague Commission, and was later relocated to Mukteshwar in 1893. Further, later it was renamed to Indian Veterinary research Institute. There is also a library and museum inside the institute campus.
4. Methodist Church
This hidden church set between cedar trees was built almost 100 years ago. It is only open for a few hours on Sundays. This beautiful red and white structure with lovely stained windows and a steeple bell can be reached via a downward path just after the market. It is one of the best things to see in Mukteshwar.
5. Mukteshwar Inspection Bungalow
A famous piece of history is attached to this place as Jim Corbett stayed here in 1929. This PWD inspection Bungalow in Mukteshwar is an architectural wonder. It is situated near Mukteshwar temple and is a landmark in the town. The bungalow has lush green surroundings and beautiful views which makes it a must-see in the hill station. 6. Bhalu Gaad Waterfalls
Bhalu Gaad Waterfalls is a small natural waterfall and one has to trek around 2 kms to reach there through a dense green forest. This trek will bring you closer to nature. The place is ideal for picnic, nature walks and probably you can get in touch with some local to find some fishing arrangements here.
7. Sitla
Situated 6000 ft high, Sitla is a hill station popular for its colonial style bungalows. Tourists can engage in trekking expeditions of varying difficulty levels organised by the resorts in this area.
8. Brahmeswara Temple
It is situated at a distance of 1 km from the main road is among the prominent religious sites. It is Believed to be constructed in 1050 and is among the oldest sites of the region. Temple site is frequently visited by tourists and devotees for exploring its intricate stone carvings and natural beauty.
9. Local Markets
The market has lot of collection of old wooden shops and is a treasure trove for souvenirs. You can get taste of local Kumaoni food at one of the small home restaurants on the market road.
10. Renewable Park
It is built and managed by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Recently, the town is flooded with some construction activity in and around Mukteshwar. Tourist are also buying houses here to escape cities hustle bustle.
